How do you judge the wear on a strap? The first time you use one it is marked. When does the DOT say the strap is a danger? Is there a photo gallery some were that shows good vs. worn out ones?

it depends on the d.o.t. officer. some signs are obvious. like a ripped area, shredding. fraying, sewing coming loose, e.t.c. remember any EXTRA securement, even though EXTRA, if any defect you will be in violation. so if you have any defective straps, do not think you can use as an extra level of safety. d.o.t. does not look at you being safety conscious. they look at you as a ticket & fine!

I'm constantly replacing straps, never use a cut, frayed, or even if mfg tag is missing.
