Well Drop Dead time has come and gone....shipper is way behind apparently, gonna end up with an unintentional reset apparently. I guess the only good news is I started getting detention pay of 20 bucks an hour once drop dead time passed. But the window for on time delivery is quickly closing...need to be on road by 0030'ish to have any chance of making it....and it is 2100 right now.

Guess they will be working a repower for me if all else fails.....sucks, never had to have one of my loads repowered and I have yet to be late.....guess there is a first time for everything.

Does the not on time delivery actually count against you when its the shippers fault? Could you please explain what a "repower" is. Seen the word a lot on here haven't stumbled across the definition like other common truck words. Hope you are actually on the road instead of answering this! Drive safe!

Repower means swap loads. Being late because of the shipper usually isn't counted against you as long as you make dispatch aware you need a reschedule. Some companies just don't care and expect you to cheat your logs to get it there on time anyway. My way? If its late when you give it to me its going to still be late. Its not my job to risk anything due to the incompetence of others.

Was in Laramie, WY coming off a 10 break. SRT dispatch sent me a msg to repower a load in Salt Lake City because that drive didn't have the hours to deliver in ID to Wally World. Sent msg back and accepted the load. Got there swapped out. Got north of Salt lake and ran out of hours.
Dispatch: Are you going to deliver on time?
Me: NO I'm out of hours need to reschedule apt time.
Dispatch: Why are you not going to deliver on time?
    Me: No out of hours.
Dispatch: So your saying you not going to deliver that load.
    Me: Yes, out of hours.
Dispatch: Why did you accept a load you knew you wouldn't deliver on time?
Me: Why did you give me a load you knew I couldn't deliver legally on time? Why did you make me swap loads with a driver who was out of time, and then expect me to deliver illegally? Why couldn't he drive illegally to get there?
    Dispatch: complete silence
Beep............ New unload time and apt.

    Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.

The point is dispatch knew were I was at, they knew how long it would take. They knew if I was driving legal that a reschedule would be needed If I did it or the other driver kept it. The sent it to me expecting I would falsify my logs to get it there on time. Pissed them off when they found out different. Paper logs at that time. They let the other driver off the hook and they thought they found a sucker to do it for them.

Well that load ended up being 14 hours past drop dead time before I was released with it. Drop dead time at SRT is the point you can start collecting detention pay....14 hours at 20 bucks an hour, 280 bucks....dispatcher told me to fax him my slip for it, soon as i did money put right on my comdata card.

So i left at 630 am with the load, get 90 minutes up road and they are repowering load, drive to whiteland indiana and wait at flying hooker for other driver. So I do the 520 miles, pull in and park. Go inside, use restroom and grab some salad dressing from dennys so I can make a salad....had stopped at wally world couple days ago to restock cooler.

Walk outside and this neanderthal was standing on my running boards using a rubber mallet to bang on side of my truck.....later find out he was doing that and yelling for 5 minutes or so from driver parked across from me. So I start y3lling, and he says he is my swap....well why are u banging on my truck....well i knocked but you didnt answer.....ok, so maybe i was inside.....maybe, just making sure.....

Uh, yeah....well no damage to truck, and too tired to start in on another driver, but I did report him to safety after I had left.

He gets my load heading right into all that snow in pennsylvania....serves him right.

His load was a 2 stop....1st stop 2 miles from truckstop at 8am monday (today) second 8am tuesday in university park illinois 190 miles away....not happy about those miles, but whatever headed away from that blizzard thats heading the east coast way.

Dropped this morning at a kroger dc....100 buck lumper fee for 20 minutes of work lol....unions....get comcheck to them and head towards illinois. Pulled into fuelstop about 30 miles short of delivery in Indiana, fuel up and decide this is a good spot for shower, food, and sleep....wake up in the morning to head to delivery.

Its not that with elogs....they can look at it in real time now, they will repower your load without you even asking for it because the new system will flag it based on drive hours and miles left to delivery and some other variables.

But, i was very proactive in asking from the start to either switch my appointment or repower because it was not my fault it was going to be late. If you ask ahead of time they usually wont count it against you....its the ones who dont ask or dont realize they are running late because of poor trip planning or they cant keep their doors closed as the move down the road.
