Yup, Yup and Yup,, it isn't about what you make, it's about what you keep!BigBadBill Thanks this. -
Ok thanks everybody that why I asked for P& L not gross. In 8 months I grossed 139 and Profit was 59 and change doing dry van.I am just trying to see if owning really is worth it. I'm in new lease as of last week. Just always want to be in new unless I can make enough more to justify something older.
-
Glad to see you back Bill !! Where you been hiding? lol -
gross of $90.93 per car then why the HELL did the dealer charge me $995.00 to get my Wife's BMW from Spartanburg, SC to Louisville, KY.. So I am going to guess that you will tell me that the rest went to someone's union dues..
-
$995 sounds like a bargain. You could have negotiated that or something else to offset it. Union drivers hauling cars make great money - about a $1.00 a mile give or take, with benefits. Go read in the car hauler section about the costs involved a real eye opener. They can't haul a load of cars for $2 a mile like general freight and make any money, wouldn't even cover the cost, not even for non-union. On a $25,000 car that's a little under 4% of the cost.

But looking at all the hydraulics to fail and moving parts on them and the damage liability I wouldn't pull cars for anything. -
I say you got a fair price, especially if the deal was only moving your BMW as a single unit, they would have paid a premium, again my rate is wholesale where I pick up a full load at one or two dealerships in the same general area, usually within 20 miles of each other and drop the entire load at one stop, usually an auction. My operating cost is $2.49 per mile, so for me to move your BMW at cost, no profit it would cost me $1045.80, so my rate would have been at least $1,200 for a single unit. I don't give my wholesale rate to anyone that does not give me at least 7 units at the same location.KANSAS TRANSIT and SL3406 Thank this. -
I see what you are saying, maybe I jumped the typewriter a little fast, that salesman stated if I went to the factory and drove it from there I would still have to pay that $995.00 I guess that's a way to make more from the me on the consumer side..
