Summer blend is more expensive to process than winter blend. For those who don't know you buy two separate types of fuel in summer vs winter. That doesn't make summer blend $100 a barrel though if winter is at $50.

Summer blend refers to the chemical make up of the processed fuel, not the crude it's made from. This change in fuel processing for summer has no effect on crude prices. The summer spike in fuel prices is attributed to increased demand as people take vacations.

Yes and the supply vs demand will remain unchanged as we have a huge surplus of crude. So the only increases you're going to see is from the modified low evaporation summer blend as opposed to the less processed and thus cheaper winter blend fuel.

If you're hoping for a huge spike in prices in the summer you may be in for a bit of a disappointment. I'd love nothing more than for $200 a barrel LOL but it's just not likely that summer is going to produce anything other a few extra cents a gallon. Demand isn't as big as you think, not many people vacation and travel like they used to.

it's about $1.98-$2.00 here but up until recently it was hovering around $4 so it's still a huge drop compared to where it was. All the other commodities are in a slump as well for the most part energy, agricultural, and precious metals markets have all taken a nose dive.

My husband is retiring from the military soon and seriously looking into driving. However, we are hearing all sorts of horror stories about only making $500 a week, which we can't do. Any advice or info you could give about what to expect would be great!
