I wouldn't leave the house for 175 a day, especially if I had to drive that far just to get to work. But then again, the cost of living around here may be higher than where you're from

140 miles a day, for $175 a day? Not worth it in my opinion

I wish not to know all of your business, but this strikes a cord with me, and here's how. I took "over" the family house/home. Both of my folks are old, dad will be 91 in another week, mom will be 89 in 2 weeks!

I have the house till they die, or forever. I can only say my house is big and old and costly to keep as it is now. When each one dies, I am selling it "as-is" and getting the heck outta here. Either an apartment, condo, townhouse, but I am not staying here. I personally will consider this to be a "fresh start" for me.

Not everyone can have this mindset, but I have promised myself that if I have to keep up with a home, it has to be newer than this 170 year old home, and a MUCH BETTER neighborhood to boot! So if, just saying if, the times comes for you to make any such decision, think of it only as a "fresh start", at living YOUR LIFE, FOR YOU!

    Best wishes to you.

    Tony

Isn't there a refinery between sioux city and sioux falls? I'd think you could haul something into / out of there and stay local, no?

Hell no. My car gets 45+ MPG, is under warranty (no maintenance concerns), and I wouldn't screw with that commute. I say that as someone that could have gotten a ~20% raise from a previous employer if I would have been willing to increase my commute by 50 miles. There's not an amount of money that would make that aggravation and waste of time worth it to me.

That would work if the tractor has a sleeper...else he would need a room for his break.
