I thought I would start a thread where HH drivers could bounce ideas off of each other, ask questions or stuff that may or may not be worthy of starting a thread for.

If you take two identically spec'd 3 axle RGN's, and the only difference between the two is one is a mechanical and the other a hydraulic trailer with a Honda pony motor, what would be the difference in weight between them?

    281ric Thanks this.

Must be somebody looking at trls?
I don't know the weight difference though. But I will take a hdy. any day over mech. after running both.
That would be 50k or bigger trl. though.

    281ric and mg1224 Thank this.

Yeah, I have been for awhile, just can't quite convince myself to pull the trigger just yet. I looked on truckpaper a few days ago and there are some deals to be had on them, for new anyhow. I think the oil fields slowing down has made some of these dealers rethink prices they previously had on new units already in stock.

I agree, I'm growing very tired of this mechanical trailer. But if it adds to much weight it might be a deal breaker for me as far as staying on 7 axles.

What's your empty weight with your mechanical on 7 axles?

Jason, Call the dealers, every trl. should have a mty. weight stamp on it.
I know Trail King did. Will kinda give you a rough idea on the weight difference.
I don't think it should be more than 1k though. I might be way off, so don't hold me to it.
