I would just have the driver use their own, whatever he/she is comfortable with, things the boss buys get beat up

Well I want to instal one that driver doesn't know about, which tracks him, mileage consumption, speed, maintenance update etc..

what you want to do is unethical, most drivers are fine with knowing that you track that stuff, its your truck, it's logical that you would want to know these things, it's the underhandedness that pisses us off, and if that's the way you really are, I hope you never get a driver for it

what you are actually asking about is all in the ecm depending on the truck (newer usually has it built in, frequently with a dash display that the driver (or tech or anyone with a brain) can just cycle through to get the data they need, if you dont know this already and havent bought the truck, DONT, you will go under and make enemies out of employees

As there are decent driver out there such as yourself mr. Skallagrime, there are scums that would not follow instructions, not be responsible with you track etc... I am ok with driver knowing that there is a tracking device on the truck, but I don't want them to disconnect it. I am not purchasing brand new trucks, so it doesn't have it.

i know the rand mcnally elogs do what you want.

it also transmits any problems with the driver or ecm. does logs. and routing.

it transmits everything to a server which you can log into with your own account.

in spite of the naysayers. what you ask for isn't that big a deal. you wouldn't be the only man or company doing what you ask.

If a driver would disconnect it, is that the kind of driver you want working for you??? Get it, tell him its there, find a way to lock it up so cant get to it then go about your business but like the others I wouldnt drive for you either. Asking this question, to me implies you know nothing bout driving a truck. I wouldnt drive for an owner who knows nothing bout trucks, if im going with a small fleet like yours.
