I'm converting my 18 speed autoshift transmission to manual. Iv done a lot of reading and it sounds like Pablo-ua on here has done this before however I can't message him because I'm new. I believe I read the shift tower wouldn't bolt on without an adapter does anyone know anything about that also since I can't put a slave valve on it I want to keep the electric over air range valves and wire it through the neutral switch so it can't shift high to low in gear. Any suggestions on how to wire that? I know some of the gears in the transmiission aren't the same as a manual so it may not shift as good but since it's never ground a gear in its life I figure it can afford to grind a few times till I can afford something better.

How many miles on your transmission? If you can fix it better keep it. What MPG are you getting from 18 speed autoshift?

It's in a quad axle dump truck so I don't get good mileage I get 4 or 5 depending on the weight I'm hauling. Iv had enough trouble with the transmission I'm giving up on it. It won't interface with a code reader but according to the Eaton troubleshooting guide it needs a new sytstem manager ecu which is 1800 and I'm not even sure it will fix it.

Do u have a clutch pedal in the cab and if my memory serves me correctly I believe u done have a separate neutral switch in that transmission the switch is build into the shifter of it is an eaton fuller teams that is and it's not possible to do keep the electric over air range and splitter so if u do u have to do all that all the way. Reason being u have to find a shift knob that has electrical connections or wires to be able to do this which is very unlikely for an 18 speed. Otherwise it's not something extremely hard to do just requires money and time. What kind of truck is this in.

Dang that was kind of hard to follow with auto correct words and little punctuation.

However, if there is a neutral switch in the transmission I would just wire some toggle switches and make a custom mount on the shift lever or any place within arms reach.

I really like the idea of keeping the air over electric range valves. Could have saved me a lot of money when I converted mine.

We do have a second truck with the autoshti still so I'll be watching this.

If you figure out a way to put neutral switch, which there is a place for on the top cover then the wiring could be done. As far as switches on shifter would have to be all custom but like I said wiring is simple I could draw up a diagram that works for you. Need two power circuits for both valves and you could make everything ground side controlled, I have a lot of experience with custom wiring but to do it right usually takes time and testing. That's about all

Hi thanks for all the info. The inland truck parts guy here told me the shift plate has a place for the neutral switch but I won't be verifying it till Saturday if not ill put a new top on it. The only shifter I found that is factory electric is a meritor and it's not an 18 so I may use it and add a switch or just make my own. I would really appreciate any wiring help you could give me. Iv also seen shifters with cruise on them but I'm not sure if those buttons are just momentary so I would have to have one to ohm it.

The manual stick bolted right in where th e x/y shifter was and it has a place for the neutral switch so now I'm working on wiring the high low solenoid through the neutral switch. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Does anyone know of an existing electric slave valve. Also my transmission has a plug in the area the normal slave valve would be does anyone know what that plug is for?
