Three felony convictions.Do I have a chance?

Most felonies need to be ten years old, but burgery and robbery, I'd say find something else to do.

I love posts like this one. The answer is YES you can have a career in trucking.
Where do you live; city/state?
You will have to complete a CDL school, private or community college. If you're unemployed, the state may pay for CDL school. Check on this at the unemployment office.
You will probably be required to furnish the names of 2 or 3 companies that agree to hire you after graduation from CDL school and that's no problem either.

 

So let me get this straight. You were convicted of armed robbery, but no one was robbed AND you were convicted of burglary but nothing was stolen? Seems likely.

Theft of any kind is a major red flag for any trucking company. You are left in sole charge and possession of the trucking company's customers valuable freight and tasked with delivering it to a destination many hundreds, or even thousands, of miles away with little-to-no oversight or supervision. Do you see why a trucking company would be leary of hiring anyone with multiple theft convictions?

You should pursue other avenues of employment. No trucking company will touch you. They can not and will not risk their customer's business by employeeing a convicted thief.

 

One thing is for certain... considering the seriousness & number of felonies, ANY company that would hire you would have equally flawed judgement skills as you had when you committed these crimes. Those ones that would hire you (if any) tend to have you violate laws even further, commonly as breaking DOT regs & safety related matters. I doubt you'd side with the law when confronted in those situations.

The #1 trait of ANY good driver is good judgement. Any employer has valid reason to wonder if you'll ever have that.
Tho I believe in giving most ppl second chances, IMO it takes far longer than just the past 3 years to prove yourself, due to crime's number/seriousness.

 

This is straight bs. I too have an extensive record of felonies and started driving a couple years after my last conviction .
Granted this was 25years ago but,yes he has a shot and deserves a chance.

I think in some states 3 felonies means you spend the rest of your days locked up in the penitentiary. That whole "three strikes and your out" thing that rich white dudes say to make old folks vote for them. Sounds like you need a chance to prove that you have changed your ways. Hope it works out for you. Working an honest living beats the heck out of stealing what ain't yours any day. I'd like to find the Butwhole that stole four binders off my rack at the West Memphis TA last month. When I was sacked out. I'd take one of those binders and drop it in a pillow and swing for the fence.

 

Its not a problem I've worked for plenty of carriers that just tag you as NOT being able to cross the border.
