I always feel bad about hitting any animal...you can and will get into bigger problems if you swearve as there could be a car next to you...just stay in the lane your in..don't lock it up..but break..blow your horn..and turn your lights to low beam as you may be blinding what ever is there...the bigger the animal the bigger the mess..but if you swearve..not just change lanes, you could possibly flip your truck over..pigs are the worse as I've heard that they will tumble with their feet out, taking out airlines and what ever is low slung under your truck...one time a bunning truck out of Wyoming hit a hawk and took out the front window.. It was rather upset when it woke up and totalled the inside of the truck...owls are the same way..pull over and get out ASAP...deer and antalope will jump in front of you..cows and horse are bigger so you will get damage as with moose..the best thing is try not to drive past your headlights so you can see well enough before hand to change lane..but don't forget...that animal might also change to your new lane..and above all stay on the road...think of this.if it was easy....anybody could do it

Pointed out to a Local Truckload Company driver while at a customer. He blew a tire on the tractor earlier in the day and it wedged up in the trailer tandems. The surprised look and the magic moment when he couldn't figure out why the tandems was not sliding.
If he didn't need to slide back the tandems at the receiver, The next driver pulling that wagon would of been confused also lol
No doubt about your story is true with animals. -
