    Hello,

I am having troubles with my 10 speed Meritor transmission on a freightliner FLD. It broke a bearing and damaged some gears on the main shaft and both the lay shafts. I am failing to get the parts for the meritor transmission here in Africa. Instead I am getting a complete 10 speed Eaton transmission. The truck has a Cummins Is ISX motor.

My question here is will the Eaton transmission work?? Will I need to replace anything else?

I will really appreciate all advice on this.

Well, what truck is it in, year, special options we dont see? Does the bell housing have the same frame/ motor mounts? What direction is the throw out bearing arm? Is it a pull like the normal over here? Pictures of what you have will help greatly. Are they both 2" input shafts? Normal 15" double disk clutch? What engine? Can you source the clutch linkage if necessary?

The only thing would be to make sure you have the correct bell housing. Then Measure the length of the tranny from bell housing to output yoke. Then you will know if you need to change the length of the drive shaft. You will need the eaton shift tower also.

The rtx is not an overdrive. So it may be much slower than the old trans

The rtx IS an overdrive .73. The only thing he will hate is the gear spacing.

And it's not a overdrive or deep reduction box so no driveshaft issues will result
