Ugh! 330+ ?!? Man that's too much like work! Phew! I'm at the "4+ days a week, 7-8 months a year; maybe 1 or two days a week nov-march; home for supper almost every nite when I am working, off every major holiday.....and now that I'm on this schedule it will take one heck of a lot to get me to change it!" Work year ;)

Well the Google earth elevation profile thing is kinda cool.

Just too limited because multiple destination routing is not enabled neither is drag and drop way points like google maps.

You should be able to save a route in google maps and open it in google earth. I haven't tried it though -- I like seeing the options from point to point

I always knew in the back of my mind somehow 99 was a better route. Mostly because coming west bound on I40 to 58, so ready to hit the freeway and not go through more stop and go towns on 58 or 46 to get to I5N. GPS fights me all the way lol, I watch it add miles and miles as it wants to ever take the next exit and turn around turn around and backtrack across to I5N.

What about coming out of southern CA? running NB on I5 would be going sorta downhill then?

Running I-5 from southern Ca has its good and bad. I run I-5 at night going 65 and i never got pulled over. I still get passex by other trucks. You have to weigh the pros and cons. 99 more chp more chp stations more driving through cities more chances off getting a ticket or hitting traffic. I-5 less chp more open road but if an accident depending on where you are at you will be stuck. True less truckstops but can pull off an exit and handle business between the tandems. During the day i drive 62 got hit by radar didnt even pull me over or nothing. In fresno years ago went 63 to pass a truck got a ticket. Also less taco trucks on the I-5 than 99. Lol
