Well, the Interstates were pretty much finished by the time I got out here, save for a few places. Two places that I remember well are in Idaho. One, in Coeur D'Alene where you got off at Sherman and ran around the lake for a ways before getting back on the big road. The other was in Wallace, which had the claim to fame as the last stoplight on I 90.

Remember the turn in Wallace by the "Blue Moon Hotel",lol.Supposed to be the best whorehouse around. Then you probably remember the east bound weigh station and truck stop at Post Falls.Had the big warning sign when you came out of the truckstop which way to turn so you ACCIDENTILY didn't avoid the scales, lol.
A funny story, there was also a westbound weigh station about half way across the state on 90 in Idaho in the old days, acted as the westbound port. The scalemen pulled me in late one nite to check my credentials, had a pleasant talk, then was told I could go,I was leased to Consolidated Freightways at the time. The scalehouse had a base station CB Radio in it,and the bored scalemen would listen to it for entertainment. As I was getting ready to leave, the one scaleman asked if I wanted to see something funny. They could hear 2 cb Rambos truckers approaching the scale, and they were both "pull your rig over,I'll kick your ###"type conversation in full gear. The scalemen were trying to figure out which 2 trucks they were and were going to stop them both for a credential check and see how tuff they really were, lol. I didn't have time to stick around and see the outcome, but I doubt if there was any dustup.Guess the scalemen get bored, too.

Yes,lol, very, very true.Back east we had Anchor Motor Freight, same haul same rigs, same speed. Also remember when UPS had some of the slowest stuff on the road, seems like that changed.Company Consolidated Freightways trucks were generally slugs, too. The CF joke was "don't blow the airhorn, you'll lose 5 mph",lol.

Are you talking about the scale there at the bottom of Fourth of July Pass on the east side? The permanent station is gone, but they will still set up the portables there, time to time.

Right. Westbound side on the east side of the pass? The Kellogg side of Fourth of July?

I don't recall, but it's been awhile. I was glad, too. Dumbest place for a scale, well... one of the dumbest. Lose any and all momentum to get up over the pass.
