Hello Forum,
I am interested in anyone's personal reviews pertaining to these two schools from past, present, and future graduates.
My Bio:
- Interested in upgrading my license to Class A.
- Already hold Class B with Passenger Endorsement.
- (Not mentioning the company's name) Had a bad experience with already obtaining Class A. But, I had to downgrade due to the FMCSA was investigating the company qualifications.
Thank you in advance for your attention!

smith and soloman in lakewood nj was good
small classesNVME4EVER Thanks this. -
Thank you Cranky Yankee! I guess one of my main concerns are the overcrowded class where your not able to get enough drive time in.; You know what I'm saying?
-
I am dreading the thought of kicking out thousands of $$ to just sit there and watch others (no offense) practice on my time. And, only get about 30-45 minutes in drive time out of a 5-8 hours of class per day!

My wife did Smith and Solomon in Edison back in the mid 90's, was a good school, she learned a lot and they gave her and myself a good baseline for me to put the polish on her skills. It was a good experience for her and I got to meet several of the trainers and they all seemed to care about putting good drivers out not just teaching the test. She had no experience other then watching me and passed test first time out. I don't know if NJ still has you test at a DMV or not but from her experience I would recommend them highly!!!
Good luck wherever you choose to go.NVME4EVER Thanks this. -
some of the smith and soloman classes are very large
all depends where you go
reality most schools really teach you enough to get your license
rest is common sense paying attention ALL the timeNVME4EVER Thanks this. -
Thank you Jlind! That's awesome that your wife had a great experience with them. And, the test is still currently being offered only at the DMV.
I, as well wish you and your wife many more success! Safe Driving!jlind Thanks this. -
Hi Cranky Yankee,
That is true! However, I believe my problem that I will need to focus more on is my downshifting. If I recall it is: Clutch+Neutral, Rev, Clutch+Gear correct?
Also, I am from the Union County area.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Talk to a Schneider recruiter about their tanker division and maybe they will pay for the school.
Google Schneider Bulk and take a look at that division. They have local/regional/OTR, whichever you want and great paychecks.
