A marker light can go out at any moment. How does any company legally fine a driver for something like that? I would be bringing that tractor & trailer back to the main terminal, and hand them the keys.

I can go broke cheaper sitting at home, than putting up with that crap.

If a 50 dollar fine which rarely happens anyway is going to make or break your bank account it seems like you got bigger issues in life.

douche bag drivers cause douche bag over reactions
how many drivers actually pretrip and resolve issues
count the trucks some night driving down the road with a headlight out
no one should get a bonus for clean inspection either
it is called doing your job

it wouldn't make or break my bank account, but $50 is $50. And it's not something I'm just going to throw away when it isn't my fault

I think you have a point there.
My co fines $50 for bad inspection but pays $100 for a good one. Seems reasonable

yes they are, and some are fired for refusing to move the equipment, and others are forced out, by making them set still for days between loads. Starves the driver out. I was fired from my local job by the local manager for refusing to drive a trailer with no DOT bumper. 6 months later, an out of court settlement was reached, to make me go away.

How long ago was this? With CSA, most companies want the equipment in top shape going down the road because the violation falls on them harder than it does the driver. Over here if it's broken, it gets fixed right away. That's the rule. Our CSA for equipment is extremely low and they'd like to keep it that way. We still have scumbag drivers but that won't change until they raise their hiring criteria.

Hopefully you got a good settlement. Glad you and Pattyj both stuck up for yourselves though. I know way too many people just bend over and take it these days.
