Kudos on the new wagon. Every new Hyundai composite I've pulled has been way out of alignment. I've heard alignments fall on the dealer.

Quick update: Haven't hit any home runs in my first week back, but I am getting some base hits.
31,000 lb Herlong, CA to Ft. Jackson, SC: $4000 on 2650 loaded miles (2850 with dh) -- $1.40/all miles -- ouch!
45,000 lb Summerville, SC to Dubuque IA via Rockford, IL: $2350 on 1070 loaded miles (1160 with dh) -- $2.03/all miles
13,000 lb Oshkosh, WI to Lexington, SC: $2425 on 977 loaded (1160 with dh) -- $2.09/all miles
The best news is that fuel economy is noticeably improved with the new trailer:
Sacramento to Laramie: 8.3 mpg
Laramie to Mascoutah, IL: 10.1 mpg
Mascoutah, IL to Inman, SC (after going to Columbia/Summerville): 8.6 mpg
Those aren't ecm readings; they're odometer miles by gallons added (odometer is less than 1% off)... Current tank is over 8.6 mpg according to the scangauge, but it should rise now that I'm picking up a 13K load...
The day after I booked that Herlong run, an agent called offering me $3/mile from Stockton to Dallas so I clearly could have done better getting out of Cali. And it was only 15,000 lb too! Guess I lacked patience after getting a new trailer -- I wanted to get back to work.
And on the subject of new trailer: On the very first load I found myself on a country road with fresh low-hanging branches. Scraaaaatch. The second load required nailing blocks into my new floor (I should have known when the broker specified "wood floor"). Each blast of the nail gun sent a shiver up my spine... Then the consignee had one of those deep in-ground docks that tweaked my trailer skirts a bit. They sprang back pretty well, but now have a little waviness to em... And that same consignee managed to ding one of my interior plate walls when using a sledge hammer to knock the blocks free. Sigh, I guess that's why I can't have nice stuff...iledbett, csmith1281, spectacle13 and 12 others Thank this. -
do you always leave your tandems forward while backing down the ramp
i put mine to the rear after i get past where skirts will scrape
but another one of our trailers that doesnt help either skirts are so low
that's great fuel mileage I can't think of becoming a Prime truck
so I am always trying to get to 7 mpg
but i only got 6.5 from Tulare to Laramie
I hope the boss don't read your thread -

Funny how (not really!) low hanging tree branches that were never there before are all over a new trailer now. wichris suggests smacking the sides of a brand new trailer with a big hammer as soon as you take delivery so you don't worry about it any more. What was that 1980's comedy where some undercover cops (if I remember right) had their undercover car painted and fixed up like a taxi cab? It looked brand new. Guy gets in it and says "this is not a taxi!" slams it in gear and smacks into another parked vehicle nearby "now THIS is a taxi!" lol.
