Ok so I've seen this a few times where trucks are sleeping on a blocked off fuel lane first I'm curious as if it' actually a blocked lane or if drivers are blocking them to sleep cause this looks like the case to me and why do drivers do this?

Laziness and bad trip planning. I hear it all the time up here in the northeast. "Your truck stops are so small or few and far between" ya well if you think your going to pull into Ta southington or Ta greenland at 11 pm on a weekday and get a spot your crazy. Should a planned your trip better. Or they are just lazy and they don't want to walk far or pull into a difficult spot
PChase Thanks this. -
I swear if I hear someone blame bad trip planning again.......

the gas station a mile before the TA is never fullnshore harleyguy Thanks this. -
If it's late on 81 north, I detour onto 66 in Front Royal and use that truck rest area.

I witnessed a driver sleeping at a fuel pump; the bumper of his tractor was right before the fuel pumps. There was a couple of orange plastic cones in front of the truck. I saw him get out of the sleeper, pick up the orange cones and put them in his sidebox and drive off. Some employee at the truck stop should have noticed the cones。 If I had noticed the driver put them there I would have thrown them in the dumpster.

I have seen the pull forward then put the trash can behind trailer more than once...always at a small Pilot.

my first couple of weeks driving solo I saw that the Pilot in Newburgh was a company fuel stop and said "perfect I will shut down there with 20 or so minutes left on my clock (aat 9 at night)" ya that was a big mistake. Luckily I made it to maybrook once I saw how full and small that pilot was. Maybrook was pretty packed but was able to get a spot. It all came down to bad trip planning on my part. Had I looked in my truckstop book or one of the many truckstop websites I would of seen there was probably only 40 or so spots total spots at that pilot.
