I hope to know soon if folks who said will buy the house are really going to sign the one year rental contract before they buy it... If not, I will need to fix somethings in the house before I go back to America... but that means, spend more money... that I don't have...

 

When I was stationed in the far east, there were two kinds of local red tape. Normal red tape usually took 6 to 9 months to work through. If you wanted expedited red tape, you attached the requisite number of $100 bills for the level of "hurry up" you wanted, and things got done mighty quick.

The way things are in Brasil.... corrupt government "forces" people to be corrupt too... everything takes forever to be done... for no reason... Well... I think there IS a reason... bribe the government, and things will be done MUCH quicker...
Brazilians have no rights here... They make little money and live to pay taxes... no wonder so many hide income and such...
I don't want to turn this thread into politics... absolutely not... But I am mad and want to vent here...
The house that I am dealing with is in such poor condition, it might not value more than U$50,000.00 (dollars)
But for the purposes of taxes that I must pay to change dad's deed, the government evaluated its price at U$88,318.92 (dollars)

Which is totally unreal!

I thought was going to pay no more than U$500.00 (dollars) in taxes... But NOOOO! I'll have to pay U$2,672.00 (dollars)! And this is JUST for one of the documents that they ask...

FREAKING THIEVES...

Wish I knew this... at least could have brought more money... Now I may run out of it before I leave...
