Hope they changed the rear gear ratio too. Otherwise I see more clutches in their future.

Yeah, but will it get more than the low 9 mpg's it managed for 3 weeks in July?

Oh yeah? Why is that. I doubt it actually since PP didn't put it together. You still blaming the owners when it's pretty darn obvious that PP is completely at fault for the engine problems? They switched from the Evans at what, 30k. PP knew there was something wrong at that point, if not sooner than that.

I don't think the guy has a clue about how to drive a 12.7 Detroit.

Another point on the engine is when they are born troublesome like this one has been even the best mechanic can seldom bring them back around. It was an experiment from the start to put best. It's had more ECM and turbo changes than it shoulda had in a life time. Maybe it shoulda been left stock from Detroit who knows at this point. I just know I wouldn't have faith in it

Really? Is there something difficult about driving one? It was the go to engine for all the training fleets, so I'm not following you.

Even if he starts using BG? beep beep

Thousands of rookies without a clue or care in the world learned to drive on 12.7's and managed to keep them together. Of course, they had tunes that didn't let the engine self-destruct...

But he was told by the "experts" how to drive it!

If that motor had been properly set up, it would live just fine running the rpm they were. The telling thing in all this, is that the tune didn't just magically change and cause MPG issues. When a motor starts having MPG issues, and all the external stuff checks out, the answer isn't to throw another ECM on the side. Things were going wrong internally for a long time on this motor, and the shop who supposedly knows what they are doing just threw band-aids at it.

    Davidlee Thanks this.
