Problem is you will be bound to run into an LEO sooner or later that will say otherwise. I quit drinking years ago but if I still did I would make sure it was in my sleeper out of view. To many of these microchipped new generation guys out there now days in the truckstops with there cameras waiting to catch anything they can and post it somewhere.

Because.

these same questions, all or part are asked over and over. I've been hearing them myself since day 1.. IMO alcohol doesn't mix well at all with this line of work and many many others. Can you honestly drink and confine the activity to a 34 in the sleeper ? How long will that last ?

Hey Drivers- Been reading this post. On the matter of guns in the truck a driver stated all states have different laws on who is allowed to carry in a diffferent state. This is true. I live in Mass, and had Class A carry permit for over 40 tears. All states will honor a Mass Handgun Permit. But Mass will NOT except permit from any other state. I carry all the time on a driving mission, because of what I have seen happen at nite on the road. Of the weapons I own, I only carry A small Berreta .380 F-85 Cheeta just to keep me alive. I have managed to stay alive in another time in my life, but I will not go down on the road doing my job. I haul private, my own rig, so I don,t have to worry about company regs. Be safe Mike-Z

That's right, while it is legal to drink beer in your sleeper while on your reset, it only takes one ####### to put false charges on you. When it comes to CSA scores even being proven innocent will not take the charge off of your score

Skate-board, you are partially right on your answer. An LEO only needs reasonable suspicion that a driver is committing a crime to stop the vehicle, probable cause to search the vehicle. You are right that a warrantless search is invalid unless, 1) the driver gives consent to search, or 2) illegal contraband and/or weapons can be seen in plain view. In these two cases a warrant is not required. My advise as a former LEO, do not give consent unless you want to be delayed another 1-2 hours. Usually fishing expeditions result in something illegal being seized and the property usually belonged to a passenger that the driver didn't even know left it there. Bottom line, don't carry anything illegal that is going to jam you up.
Skate-Board Thanks this.
