Sweet. Have you looked into details and reviews on different dashcams or are you going to pick up whatever? I'm going to need to purchase one as well.

to the OP, when I was still OTR, I rarely used mine, mostly do to the un-intelligence that continually key up doing stupid crap on the radio, as in Tarzan call, woman moaning (because this is the only way they will ever hear a woman moan), or radio tuff guys and other things, but it still a great tool to have, at $80? Buy the radio, best of luck -

They are handy, but slip-seating on day trips it isn't really worth it for me. Some days I take it others I don't. If I was doing long-haul I would definitely have it.

I've got installing a good working CB set up down to a simple procedure that only takes about 10 minutes. I slip seat, but only a couple days a week, so I don't have to change everyday, just every time I drive. I might not be so energetic to install one if I drove a different truck every single day. That said, they can come in very handy at times and I prefer to have one, and one that works pretty good, in any truck I drive.

as someone mentioned, some old school warehouses only dock you using a CB , they get pissy when you say NO and have to get a call...
not to mention, avoiding traffic, accidents, getting a heads up about 5-0 on the prowl , and more importantly , the good drivers will hop on the radio to tell you if there is a issue with your truck or trailer that you may not be aware about.
I can count countless times , I've come up on trucks that's lights weren't working, or a flat and they are just cruising down the road , watching their smartphones, jamming with headphones on with No CB and can't say I didn't try to warn them and then bam they are in a weigh station complaining about them getting put out of service or the ticket they got, only if they had their radio on they could have avoided the headaches..
Also , on the long stretches , occasionally you can pickup a conversation that breaks up the trip and passes the time.
It's not a dying tool, it's a forgotten tool by many drivers, any trucker that gives a **** has a CB.. Just my opinionnshore harleyguy and Mudguppy Thank this. -

Just an FYI....If your co. gives you the option to fuel wherever, try sticking with one fuel chain only (ie- Loves, OR Pilot/J) and save up your driver points. I prefer Loves, because the more you fuel, the more points per gallon you get. Last year I got a Uniden Bearcat 980 (the SSB model) and used mostly driver points. It was on sale for $129 or $139, and I only put out about $35 cash. Works for anything in the store except fuel, alcohol, and tobacco. Just my $.02.
