The west is more open. More parking worse drivers though. Some of the people who drive the I-5 corridor are just clueless at times. The east is tighter and parking comes at a premium. Even in the south where the truckers are just as bad as the 4 wheelers in the west. There's more courtesy among truck drivers in the west than you'll find in the southeast. The northeast they'll actually help you though, it's easier to get someone on the radio. Each part of the country is unique. It's finding what you'll be able to deal with better.
East vs West; where is the money for a company driver/rookie

If I move down to Albuquerque there are more companies I can go with but still fairly limited. I have a couple of prehires but would like to do better.

MediumD Thanks this. -
If I had my choice it would be the West coast.Sure the east might pay a few cents more but what good is that if you have all the traffic to deal with and if your company does mostly east coast, you can bet you'll be sent to NYC and by the time you deliver and done with all the heavy traffic you'll be out of hrs.

Pride looks good from that list, I will look into that for sure. They are mostly out west which seem nice.
Do I lose anything staying out west?
Is the money better on the east coast for company drivers?
Schneider recruiter told me NO NEW MEXICANS in no uncertain terms last month. -

But I am a new and improved Mexican. I have all the upgrades.
Strider and tustultuses Thank this. -
Pride trucks are decked out pretty good; refrigerator, xm radio, satellite tv. -
And yeah, I love running west. I took a pay cut to come here but the running lanes are fantastic. It's well worth it, IMO, to stay out of the east. But like anything with trucking, everyone has different opinions, so just find what works out best for you.
Chinatown Thanks this.
