The student was taken care of the following morning. There was so few loads terminating in Buffalo that they used to have me deliver to columbus, cleveland or somewhere in PA and then deadhead home, on my fuel.

I believe that the starting pay is .39 per mile with 3 bonuses that you can qualify for. For runs under 600 miles you get more money on a graduated basis, shorter loads are paid more. They may have adjusted the starting pay to .40 per mile since they just gave us a 1 cent per mile raise as of a couple weeks ago.
We have new 2015 Freightliner trucks with new refer trailers, NOT busted up old stuff. There is a drawback. . . . You get a truck and a trailer and you are doing 99.99% live load and live unload. With only 70 drivers we can't know if there will be a driver available to pick up a load if we get a trailer preloaded. As we grow, there will be drop and hook available as well as dedicated runs. This is NOT a forced dispatch company, if you don't want to go somewhere you can turn down loads.

 

I am now one of those disgruntled Swentral drivers and went to work at KoolTrans. Our starting pay is .39 per mile and there is NO nanny on the dashboard that tells you when you go 1mph over the "company speedlimit". There is a Qualcomm on that does logs, similar to the old Central system. The trucks are governed at 65mph for company drivers. They do NOT have a lease program yet, but will start one up shortly after 2016. Jon Isaccson and Nick Burbidge are co-owners of the company. For those of you that are not familiar with those names, Jon was the CEO at Central prior to the takeover and Nick was in charge of the Lease program.

 

When your lease runs out, there will be no more grandfathering. Get ready for a different arrangement.

 

I always called it Swentral. I left in August, 2014. I couldn't deal with the Swift rules that they decided to impose on the Central drivers. I kept asking for their drivers manual, but they never provided one because it was over 300 pages. I am happily working at KoolTrans now with pretty much the same people that I worked for at Central. It was operated better according to many, and was a better starting company for many than swift. It was a good alternative if nothing else.[/FONT]
