The student was taken care of the following morning. There was so few loads terminating in Buffalo that they used to have me deliver to columbus, cleveland or somewhere in PA and then deadhead home, on my fuel.
I am happy to say that I am now working at KoolTrans. http://kooltrans.com/

I believe that the starting pay is .39 per mile with 3 bonuses that you can qualify for. For runs under 600 miles you get more money on a graduated basis, shorter loads are paid more. They may have adjusted the starting pay to .40 per mile since they just gave us a 1 cent per mile raise as of a couple weeks ago.
We have new 2015 Freightliner trucks with new refer trailers, NOT busted up old stuff. There is a drawback. . . . You get a truck and a trailer and you are doing 99.99% live load and live unload. With only 70 drivers we can't know if there will be a driver available to pick up a load if we get a trailer preloaded. As we grow, there will be drop and hook available as well as dedicated runs. This is NOT a forced dispatch company, if you don't want to go somewhere you can turn down loads. -
I am now one of those disgruntled Swentral drivers and went to work at KoolTrans. Our starting pay is .39 per mile and there is NO nanny on the dashboard that tells you when you go 1mph over the "company speedlimit". There is a Qualcomm on that does logs, similar to the old Central system. The trucks are governed at 65mph for company drivers. They do NOT have a lease program yet, but will start one up shortly after 2016. Jon Isaccson and Nick Burbidge are co-owners of the company. For those of you that are not familiar with those names, Jon was the CEO at Central prior to the takeover and Nick was in charge of the Lease program.

When your lease runs out, there will be no more grandfathering. Get ready for a different arrangement.

Should post the whole thing.
In the second quarter of 2014 Knight Transportation formed a new entity, Kool Trans, LLC (Kool Trans). Kool Trans is a full truckload temperature-controlled transportation company created to be attractive to professional drivers while providing high quality consistent service to our customers. We hired a former CEO of a large temperature-controlled truckload transportation company to lead and grow this business. Kool Trans will be marketed and operated separately from our Knight Refrigerated business. Through Kool Trans, we plan to provide additional refrigerated capacity to the market through a fleet of new trucks as well as our network of third-party carriers through our truckload brokerage.
Even with all that. They started a new company partly "to be attractive to professional drivers".
This means they will be doing all they can to get drivers to look at it as a new company, and keeping the drivers happy so they get a good reputation is a large part of that.
So maybe they are owned by Knight, and run by ex. Central high ups.
Lets give them a clean slate and see how they do. I am guessing they know what drivers are looking for, and maybe they have a plan to make the drivers happy, and also make a good margin.
Central was not swift. Yea, they always had the same ultimate owner but until they sold to swift they were always a separate business. It was operated better according to many, and was a better starting company for many than swift. It was a good alternative if nothing else.
Lets give them a chance and see where it goes.PSUMoose Thanks this.
