    This companies fuel program
    is a joke.
    They will rip you off royal.
    Example :Macon Ga. to Dallas Texas.
    $260.00 fuel paid.
    Actual cost $693.09
    Just take that out of your pocket.

    (I was in the Birmingham terminal)
    Three separate occasions and
    while in the office had my legally secure
    Load tampered with.
    Chains were loosened.
    Straps taken off.

    The last time I was there one of
    the safety personal tried to fix one of the dot lights on
    my trailer.
    Hmmm.
    There was nothing wrong with it when I brought it into the yard as I am very efficient and thorough in my inspections.
    I'm also a heavy duty mechanic.
    This is a very mean old school trucking company that gives the industry a bad name.
    Thank god I'm leaving soon.
    Before I'm bankrupt.

    This is the absolute truth.

    Sorry you had such a bad experience. Other drivers tampering with freight is the worst kind of BS, we have enough to worry about without being sniped by one of our own out here.

    Out of curiosity, why were spending almost $.80/mile on fuel? 890mi shouldn't cost almost $700 in fuel... Figuring $3.50/gallon, that would put you at 4.45mpg. I think the FSC is usually based on much better mileage than that and most companies offer better pricing than $3.50/gallon.

    Working for Hornady as a company driver is the best in the Flatbed industry hands down.
    Been there done that.
    Lease purchase or owner operator ,
    Your screwed.
    (Don't even try.)
    They'll play with the numbers and you think your making great money, wrong!#!#!
    One week $2800.00
    Next $1200.00 if you're lucky!
    Next week $50.00
    Oh, that's just the way it is. Funny ripping you off.
    What about taxes.?

    Hornady pays 2001 wages.
    I've worked for them for 8 years
    and had enough.
    Example :$125.43 fuel surcharge for 565 miles.
    Really people?

    Great.
    Working for Hornady.
    14 hour days,
    6 days a week, and then and only then you can make great money.
    Lie on your log book to make sure your legal.
    While keeping dispatch happy.
    Working your best and trying to do your best,
    and then waiting for 4 hours for the planning,
    In my opinionthey have not been looking until you que unloaded.
    Most likely there having donuts and coffee and your just a second thought. For real, my good friends, I've been there.

    The truth!
    I delivered to New Orleans
    4 years ago and Hornady said we have nothing now.
    So I drove to WestWeGo la. International paper, checked the freight.
    All of a sudden I got a good paying load.
    Who new?

    This needs to be Addressed.

    I don't work for them, but the fact that you are so suspicious when someone tries to ask an honest question (which you still did not answer) in my opinion says more about you than me.

    A fuel surcharge isn't supposed to pay for all of your fuel. Buying fuel is a business expense.

    so are you expecting them to pay for all the fuel? im confused you are a lease operator right? sounds like you are the one that needs some learning buddy, go drive a company truck for JB they will pay all the fuel for you. I dont understand how you get out of bed every day without help

    You've been here 8 years I've been here two. It's been great for me...but I guess I done my homework before I decided to go lease. Any owner operator will tell you that if you're tryin to survive or truck off of a fuel surcharge then your in the wrong business!! Fuel surcharge is only a bonus at most. We have no force dispatch for owner ops or lease drivers. Try turning the load down if you don't like the pay... See if zero fuel surcharge is better for you.
    How could anyone bad mouth a company they work for 8 years....something kept you running for them.
    Me personally I don't have any complaints! They do what they say and the pay is good. If I don't like the load I find another one. But my wife and kids are well taken care of and my truck is pretty reliable!!! I love it!!! Almost 2 years and counting!! Be smart, work hard, be safe it all pays off!!

    I was there 19 years. Have never seen a new truck paid off. If you do pay it off you have a million mile piece of junk you paid 4 times the price to buy. If you want to be owner operator. Buy your own truck.dint do Hornady lease. It is a ripoff. Payments running about 1500 a week .
