    Hello Ladies & Gentlemen

Since first posting this questionnaire over 1.5 years ago, I have noticed that many Companies are becoming more vague in the information that they are giving to the driver and most Recruiters have gotten worst (squirting around main points). Since I have been with two smaller outfits, I have or I will be expanding (adding pertinent questions) to this list soon. ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS ARE:

    45. Are load settlements and pay stubs issued on same date as pay stubs: I have experienced some Companies not doing this to their advantage?
    46. Please explain the difference as to how you are paying Detention Pay, Layover Pay, Extra Stop Pay and or Overtime pay?
    47. Are Load assignments being pre-planned?
    48. At this time are your trucks being frequently targeted by D.O.T. enforcement for levels 1, 2, and or 3 inspections?

Please ADD or REMOVE as many questions as you feel will help you choose the best outfit for you. Continue to make as many copies of this questionnaire/411 list as you like: Mail, fax or email this list to the Company or Recruiter and DO NOT COMMIT TO THEM until you have received the questionnaire/411 list back from them first. I keep a file of each Company just as they keep my personal information on file i.e. 15- 25 pages of applications & release forms.

This list is helpful to those of you who plan to contact multiple Companies and forget what they have already told you are otherwise undecided. This gives you something in black or white to reference & compare what these Companies are claiming to offer you.

    And remember "aim high"

This is a great list, I am just starting out and there are alot of questions that need to be asked. I wonder if you could have something like this printed up like a contract and have the recruiter sign of on his answers so if something arises you have something to back you?

    aimhigh Thanks this.

    ..........................................................
Sir You do not need a contract: What I do is, inform the potential company that I have a lot of questions to ask and would it be okay to fax or email them my questions.
Once I get the question/411 list back; I can then determine if it is worth my time attending their orientation etc.

Hi: Since 2013, I have acquired quite a file on many large companies as well as smaller companies who otherwise hide in the shadows. IF THEY CAN NOT ANSWER THESE SIMPLE BUT NECESSARY QUESTIONS (AND A SMALL NUMBER DO NOT!), THERE IS NO NEED FOR ME TO GO FORWARD WITH SUCH OUTFITS.

I discovered the original questionnaire list on the truckerreport back in 2004/06. It is still posted and many drivers who looked for small companies and owner operators to drive for would use that list at the time.

For some strange reason (2009-present), drivers have suddenly become fearful of the Recruiter or Company and have stopped asking questions which has now led to Companies and Recruiters telling you anything just to get you to commit to orientation.

The o/p wants a signed contract so he can "get 'em" at some point, this is where I wished him good luck. You "claim" to have a file on many companies with questions they need to answer. Totally different scenarios.

A..G Anthony you are reading to much into this questionnaire: If, Sir, I am job searching and calling quite a few trucking companies in a short time frame; Of course I would want some documented general information to use as reference.

B..Instead of skimming over such an detailed post: Think outside the normal trucker drivers frame of thought, "AND READ THE QUESTIONS THAT I HAVE POSTED HERE AGAIN". As many of you do NOT even read the details in a Companies Contract that they MAKE you sign!

C..These are questions that can HELP ANY driver to determine if ANY outfit is a good fit for him or her!

D..Once the Company and or Recruiter completes my list and mails, fax or email the response back to me, I can take my time and go over their replies and IF I am interested, ask for further clarification to any of the points listed.

E..IN FACT Mr. Anthony, I have been complimented many times from a variety of Truck Company Presidents, Safety Personnel and Recruiters for taking the time to put together such a list as it does save both parties time and helps to quickly determine any potential mis-understandings that may later arise.

F: "THIS LIST SIMPLY HELPS Y.O.U (if you are a driver). Looking at it (QUESTIONS) in any other way ("by your reply") leads me to assume that perhaps you may not be a driver; and our of those probable recruiters who mislead drivers with lies, promises and selling them pipe dreams.

Just go ahead and admit: you simply wanted an applause or that a boy from other forum users to increase your "thank you" points!

btw: Where does this list ask for signature(s)? Where does this list ask for or request a Disclaimer or any other terminology found on legal (Standard, Legal, Business or Service/Financial) contracts that "oh by the way" you WILL be signing by most trucking companies somewhere in the hiring process?

In ending, I encourage drivers searching for their first job, second job or tenth job to ask questions and keep the replies to compare what each company has to offer. Do not commit hastily. Get clarification and note anything left out. These Recruiters and some Companies do not have your well being or comfort in mind. Get the facts and yes some if not most; recruiters will still outright LIE to you! Oh, I almost 4got, "Aim High"!

Now this young man get's it! It is simply a list to help the driver who otherwise has NOTHING to go on.
