Without all the what if's, in this situation the Prime driver should of slowed down to let the merging truck into the lane. When I change lanes I not only look to see if there is space for me to move but also that another truck is not approaching faster then me. I think that is courteous. The reason the Prime driver got over was because he/she did not want to slow down for the merging truck. But by the Prime truck moving over the Marten truck and the passenger van had to slow down. On that part of 35 there is "No Trucks in the Left Lane".

With what I just stated I still think Marten was a moron.

No, its a complete pain when drivers jump over like scared rabbits for merging traffic. If your running around 60 then let off the pedal for a minute and fall in behind. Jumping out into traffic at your speed just causes trouble.

you keep bringing up this courtesy thing, to me that is the same as saying that if you are not polite to move, then you must be unprofessional. which is the wrong way to see things....sure I am polite, I try to do the right things, but when it comes to certain things such as a driver not doing his/her due diligence while driving and forcing me into an unsafe situation, one has no choice and I don't feel bad about it. The way I see it the driver merging onto traffic should have showed courtesy by finding an opening, and merging when it is safe to do so, rather than relying on others to adjust to his/her actions of ignoring or not paying attention to their surroundings and or enviroment and feel that one has the right to just barge into traffic....

please read this slowly, so maybe it'll sink in.

trucks frequently can not attain highway speeds by the end off an on ramp. Sometimes they may be going 10-15 mph (or more) slower than the thru traffic on the highway. It sure would be nice if another truck driver, who is capable of understanding this, and currently occupying the right lane, and didn't NEED to be in that lane (just put that there to keep out more "what if" stories), would check to see if it's safe to move over a lane and let the merging truck on so he doesn't need to slow down and lose his momentum, or stop on an on ramp and then try and merge onto a highway from a standstill. Or worse yet, do something stupid like slam on the brakes and merge at an even slower speed after you've passed and cut someone else that was behind you off.

please understand that I know that the traffic on the highway has the right of way, and it's the merging vehicle that has the duty to yield to traffic and safely merge.

    i couldn't agree more.

if the prime driver in this thread did move over and cut off the Marten truck, then it was a dumb move and he should have let off, or sped up and not changed lanes because the other truck was merging.

where did I say that? That's right, I didnt.

you can resort to insults if you need to. Obviously cartoons are what's needed to to get through to someone like you. I see that Wikipedia is where you learned to drive.

once again, show me where I said that merging traffic does not have to stop on a ramp if they can't safely merge. Or, you can admit that you can't read and make things up to support your point.

show me where I said it.
