Rookie Driver how do you like it so far? I hope you enjoy your driving. I was going to talk with dart but I ended up leasing thru Schneider. Start orientation on March 30th.

    Keep us posted

Been driving 2 weeks now. I like it a lot. Last week was a short week due to my trainer having to take his 34 hour break mid week. Drove about 2500 miles this last week. Durring orientation and training I'm not making much money but it will get better once I get out of training and into my own truck.

A little overdue for an update. Last Monday I went threw the upgrade process from trainee to full time driver. It was a 2 day thing. It went fine, passed the tests. There were 4 of us in for the upgrade. Only 2 of us made it threw. I do not know the reason the other two were removed.
Wednesday I was set up with my own truck. Sounds easy but took most of the day. Thursday I had my first solo run. It got cut short because I wanted to be home Friday night. Because there wasn't a shipment coming back to Minnesota by then. Because of Easter weekend, there wasn't much going on that could get me back. When I did get that firs trailer back to the Dart yard, I had truck problems. The air ride wouldn't drop down after dropping the trailer. It ended up at the shop anyways. So I had a long weekend off. We will just say yesterday was my first day. Other then having to wait a few hours for an empty trailer to go to my first load and then because I was late to the load it took over 2 hours to be loaded, it was an ok day. Only got 330 miles in before I had to park for the night.
Today is a new day and I see it being a better one.

Driving here and there. Been back and forth on I 70 all week. Sat at one stop for 4 hours waiting to be unloaded. I did the math and because of that and other delays I won't be back Friday night like I had planned. Last week had some shipper delays and didn't get as many miles as normal but this week, other than today, I've been making good miles.

Rookie Driver....thanks for keeping us informed of your progress. From south of the cities myself and looking at schools here on MN now. Does Dart pay detention and breakdown?

Yes they do. It doesn't kick in until after the 2nd hour though. I think it's $17 an hour.

This week is starting our like crap. Friday I was all planned out till Wednesday. Apparently there was a shipment that didn't get taken care of over the weekend and it got put on my dispatchers desk and i the got pit on me. So my pre plans where removed and i was put on this one instead. By the time I got to where I needed to pick it up (about 12:45)it was given to someone else and now I am given a new one that won't be ready till after 3pm. My dispatcher said she would pay me for my sitting and waiting but all would have been better if it had just been left the way it was set up on Friday.

    enicolasy and popcorn169 Thank this.

Hey I'm done with school here in the D.C. area and I test on Monday at the DMV. Was wondering if DART did tuition reimbursement and just wanted to see how things were going. How is the home time? They told me that they do a northeast regional and I could be home every week. Also, is there a cap on detention and breakdown pay? What are their trucks like? Anything you could add would be great. Hope all is well and hope I didn't ask too much. lol!
