Yeah, I just use my last name & trucking, but Citi bank still wanted a fictitious name statement. I was like "but it isn't fictitious, it is my real name." They were unmoved, so rather than file a bunch of paperwork I didn't need I just went across the street to US bank.

They've been pretty good, but they don't have locations everywhere -- memorable because there were none within 250 miles of San Antonio, TX (where I bought my truck).
Oh it isn't just you. I thought I had a good handle on taxes before, but I still spent the better part of a week with turbo tax experimenting with various ways of doing things to minimize what I owed for 2014 & to figure out how to best do things for 2015. And I'm a simple sole prop!

Way too much brainpower is wasted in this country figuring out how to minimize tax burdens...

Without me having to re-read the whole thread, was there any mentions of paying one of those companies that do all the required steps to get your authority? Has anyone gone this route, and can recommend reliable one? Does OOIDA do this?

believe me, I considered a few. The trouble is, you kind of have to know the stuff. If you don't you are gonna be on shaky footing. If you don't want to learn the stuff and do it, you should probably lease to a carrier and let them guide you through the few things left for you to take care of.

As far as help, if you read through this thread, and the one entitled "The steps, forms, and info...", and the other stickies in the O/O section. You will have all the help you need.

I have been leased on for almost five years to various carriers. And I wouldn't trust any of them to guide me in anything, except down the toilet.
I'm mostly reserved about doing it myself for fear of forgetting some important step then finding that I screwed up something when thousands miles away from home.

Or only travel in and buy fuel in one state. Or run under 26000Lbs. Plenty of people understand how it works.

My question on all of those would be why lol

I just saw a guy getting a $300 ticket for not registering with the UCR, I think that's like $6. He was calling some company that did all that for him.

Paying for a service isn't a guarantee your rolling down the road with everything in order. Like Danny said. You want to know what's going on.
