I have NO problem with drive cams, I think they're great for saving your butt legally.
Driver facing Cameras are ridiculous and an invasion of privacy.
If an accident is preventable or not. If an accident is your fault or not totally and clearly can be proven simply by a OUTWARD facing camera.

I'd like to put a Camera into the bedroom of the CEO for Swift... not to spy on him or invade his privacy but oh yeah JUST in case somebody breaks into his home. :biggrin_255:

but hey you're right this is great news!
"Driver shortage" already... so some driver facing cameras will certainly add to that :yes2557:

    Switches Thanks this.

I always roll with an outward facing dash cam. Best believe if I roll into a pickle, that thing will have conveniently been not working at the time of the incident.

That's the mentality that kills me, you know why? Three years and over 300k+ miles and not a scratch, accident, or violation. Pardon the play on words, but to me, accident free is no accident. Does that explain why I don't understand the babysitting part? They teach all you guys at school that, rookies will make mistakes and so it's acceptable somehow. My response to this was there should never be an excuse if you are seriously paying attention to your surroundings. It's a full on effort.
People who need babysitting shouldn't be in trucks. It's because of these people that I get another quarterly meeting with my DM about safety crap that I don't care to hear about. Seriously, do I need to screw up in order to improve on my safety?

Actually Thanks to CSA yes you do need a babysitter and a violation to get your truck put on the map.

Be careful with your conversations on your cell phone; onboard cameras & monitoring are looking and listening.

whatever way you want to look at it man.. it's freaking Swift!

go find me a bunch of companies that require 2+ years experience that have these cameras in their trucks!
    yeah I'll wait...

it's mainly just the companies that want cheap noobie drivers that are throwing cameras in their trucks.
Is that a coincidence? I think not!

    OceanDan Thanks this.

IF that was only it! Be careful in your sleeper.Anything you say or do can and will be used against you in your carriers court of lawlessness. Be careful when you pull that phone. Be advised that the comment number on your trailer means nothing against what your going to say about the people that fail to merge properly, AND get ready to be the bad guy the public hates. THERE IS NO INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. The general public cant comprehend the fact that 10 brakes does not mean you can stop faster, So when that footage shows you slamming into a pile up be ready to lose. If swift wanted a program of videos used to exonerate its drivers why would they allow third ,fourth and fifth parties to review the footage? Also if swift wanted to take your side it would be easier to do so without a camera in most situtations. Guess what,With a video of a rear end collision. You are the bad guy even if you were 20k under gross and were cut off. People don't get it.

Your correct. To bad we can't train real drivers so let's just pretend tech can somehow make up for our short comings. It's not like swift only requires drivers to only have six months exp to train or that to train a trainer to train now only takes one day. Since it is so much cheaper to throw unprepared drivers out there. If only swift were self insured and could argue against giant losses.
