LOL, they both say the same thing verbatim. I grabbed one while I was in ND was going to get CDL there, but came back home after oil prices crashed. I bet all 50 states are virtually identical save for the front cover.

Well, I'm just a noob student, so take this for what it's worth (probably nothing) But the idea of having my landing gear getting hung up on a pothole etc with a full load at speed scares the poo-poo out of me. Buy grease. use it. Get a bigger hammer. Buy a small propane torch and heat it up til it moves, whatever it takes. Raise those things as high as you and the guys you nicely beg at the truck stop/dock to help you. Then dump that piece of junk with a DVIR when you get back to a terminal. If they're hanging way down, to me, that's a safety show-stopper. And surely if you drive into a weigh station you're going to get nailed on it anyway. -My noob opinion. -probably stupid cause I'm a noob.

Write it up and if you think it's way too low don't drive it. Or better yet get it fixed.

It should be cranked up at least 12 feet

Yup. Write it up. Too many people find issues like this, complain about it, and never write it up. If you don't write it up...it's never going to get fixed.

First of all, that will be quite enough name calling out of you.

And no, the question is not "idiotic". If you don't appreciate rookies asking questions, there are many other sites out there less tolerant of that sort of thing that you may find to your liking. WE don't play that game here.

Since few of you could be bothered to provide an intelligent answer to the OP's question, allow me.

No, there are no laws to that effect, if that is in fact what the OP was getting at. Trailer ride height is such a subjective thing. You have difference in wheel sizes, fifth wheel height, and spring ride vs air suspension. But sometimes you will encounter a trailer with ignorant landing gear. It happens. Just crank it up as high as it will go and call it done. Just mind the grade crossings at the railroad tracks.
