Noticed this morning that the "sweep your trailer " note and responses are all gone.

We are required to take out our tools. I usually also remove all the straps from the freight and raise the dock plate so that outbound can strip my trailers easier.
My nickname is The Impaler... It is for the better that I am not touching a forklift to help out.
Anyway... Today is my birthday. Gonna drink myself silly faced and chase the gf around the house.Buffalonytrucker92, bubbagumpshrimp and crazeydude Thank this. -
mpow66m and road_runner Thank this.

went to to blacktop plant and picked up 7 ton of blacktop for pot holes... Then filled them in... -
So, ran a new route Monday/Tuesday. Same money as working two locals, but I'm home by mid-day on tuesday (and get wednesday off) and I only have to commute once (I live an hour away) instead of twice and do all the pre stuff and post stuff once (paperwork, etc). Easily 4 or 5 less hours for the same money.
I expect I"ll lose it pretty quick.
The stupid route sheet (that says when you should arrive) has the time changes all wrong, so you basically you just keep delivering and driving and delivering and driving. You actually get to the last stop at like 13:30, but it's a restaurant in a hotel so you just stay at the hotel. (I've run this before). But of course, someone previous fouled up the reservation and there were no rooms. Had to walk across the street to dump city (totally out of hours) and stay there. I had to use earplugs in a hotel. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
So, I call in coming back from Grand Island and say "do you want me to cover a wednesday local?" No no, we're good, you're on that route. (right, but i'll be at the terminal by noon tuesday). I turn in my paperwork, ask again 'you sure? you're covered?" yeah, we're good.
so I call and BEG my dentist to get a cleaning appointment (which is impossible to get without a regular route), they are actually coming in early for me wednesday. 7:45pm tuesday night, phone rings "someone called in sick, could you cover?"
ummm, no, not anymore
really ZERO planning ahead.
There's supposed to someone on call every night (you get $50 for it) to cover for this situation. But noooooooooooo. (and this is also why I didn't choose on call yesterday because I wanted to be able to take care of stuff. -
oh yeah, same truck that i had a few weeks ago where they had to switch it out because it failed inspections and went right back out? So, that truck went to Ryder Albuquerque to get fixed. Then came back, then got it's B and C service (whatever that means) at Ryder Denver last Sunday. Had 1500 miles on it since all that was done.
air leaks, coolant leaks, busted up mudflap, zero adjustments work on the seat, even the up/down leaks down.
really????????????? -

Please stop with the vanity addresses!!
You know the drill: (ding)
Stop that. And if you're going to persist in doing this, don't cry when no one knows where to find you.Buckeye91 Thanks this. -
Lol. I run into the equivalent of that with phone numbers on a regular basis. I.e. Company headquarters in CA. I'm delivering to a company satellite location in VA. I call the consignee phone number (CA area code) and get a company operator (puts me on hold and hangs up on me three times). Whoever thought that contact information would facilitate a prompt delivery wasn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
Just off my first day of working the dock. I have to say it's pretty easy to get in the swing of things! We almost never hand carry any freight - it's all by forklift. ABF seems to make their process really simple (maybe that's just a new guy thought!).
