There is no question--there a a few very good programs you can use yourself--and many drivers I've talked to use them and do very well.
If I may I would like to offer another solution--most of us or many use a trucking specific accountant--which is something I have always advocated--anyway--check with your accountant/bookeeper(if you do use one)many have their own preferences--in my case--her mother(yup I am on the 2d generation-LOL)set me up with a spreadsheet she uses years ago--once PC became so prevalent that was turned into an excel page--so while I am out I just plug the numbers into her predetermined boxes and I am done--of course since her firm handles all the accounting tax etc.--for all our business interests it works very well--then I just e-mail it to her weekly and done.
Now I will admit--the 2 generations before me did it this way--so I just did the same--IMHO--it saves me money in the long run--BUT--I know many of you may well be more well versed with accounting etc. and can handle these tasks(quite well) on your own--but for me it works very well.
    Just my $.02

I didn't have a computer, so I had a case of manilla envelopes from Staples, and used an envelope for each trip with pro # and start date etc on the front and kept it close by. As the trip progressed, I dropped in all my fuel receipts, weight tickets etc. Then after I finished, I started a new one for the next trip. Easy to reference if needed later on.

I am set with computer printer/scanner like many here. I also use Drivers Daily Log for my logs and keeping track of expenses. IFTA is a breeze because I have a RM TND500 GPS that keeps track of all the miles I drive in each state. That function alone is worth the money for the GPS.

Would like to find a software that I can do everything that some trucking specific software does PLUS generate invoices. I am testing Rigbooks.com right now and it is clean but no invoicing.

Currently use excell to generate invoices. What do some of you use?

I'll probably just create my own invoices when I need them for the business I am working on. The advantage of being a graphic designer and having all the toys!:biggrin_2559:

I'm so spoiled with all the software I have. I'll have to check out the one you mentioned too. See what it's all about.

Two programs come to mind. Easy Trucking www.easytrucking.com and Truckers Helper www.truckershelper.com . Easy Trucking is the first program that I purchased. It will do your invoices and everything that you need in this business other than payroll. The invoicing feature is the main reason that I bought the program. It also has an accounts aging feature. There are some things that I liked about the program, such as the IFTA calculations. For a single truck or someone with only a 2 or 3 trucks it can work fairly well. The small version has a 5 truck limitation. They have another version which will allow about 100 trucks. There is a bit of a glitch in the 5 truck version that can cause a blib if you have more than 5 trucks or more than 5 drivers in the same year. I just don't care for the way some information needs to be put into the program.

Truckers Helper has several versions from a driver to owner operator to fleet owner and carrier with over 100 trucks and brokerage. It also has a driver qualifications feature and other features that I like. This is a good program for those who run their own authority and have drivers. It will also do invoicing, depending on the version. Some people think that it is a bit more complex to use than some of the other programs on the market. For owners with drivers it has some nice features. One feature that I like is that it has the capability to calculate different ways in which to pay drivers. You can use hourly, mileage or percentage. I think both offer a trial so that you can try the programs to see if you like it.

When I had the free trial of Truckingoffice I liked the simplicity of it. Unfortunately it did not work well for us, since we have more than one truck. For the owner operator, its a good program.
