Not sure how many people have experienced this. I drive linehaul through the night. This morning I stopped at a gas station before hitting my last stretch of interstate to home. In front of the gas station there is an oversized shoulder which can fit about 4 or 5 trucks and a lot of linehaul drivers take their breaks there. I parked right behind a saia, and saw him coming out of the gas station. He looked kinda out of it, but I know everyone has nights like that when you make a career out of it. Did my business in the gas station, and left. Had about a 2hr drive left.
30 minutes from my terminal I see a saia waaaay down in the ditch and went head on with some trees. Sure enough, I see the same guy walking around the truck that I saw ealier. Luckily nothing flipped and the damage to the truck looked minimal somehow.
I feel bad for him ...

Probably same thing that happened to me years ago but I didn't crash. Stopped for fuel and got one of those packages of 2 Drakes Coffee Cakes. Was rolling down the road and ready for my snack. Opened one end and here they go. First one then the other rolls out of the package and clear across the floor over the the passenger side. I was glad I was alone because I cried.

Yeah, that's a little rough, but at least no one was hurt or killed. It's the ultimate call as a driver, to go or stay. Here's a story that will choke you up a little (it does me)
Many years ago, early 90's maybe, my ex-gf used to drive OTR. Late at night, she was coming across PA. and came up on a driver, all over the road, she passed him, obviously, falling asleep, so she gets on the radio and talks to him, and the guy perked right up. They ran together for a few hours, turns out the guy was an older guy from Minnesota, trying to make it back for his 30th wedding anniversary (or something) Halfway through Ohio, my gf said, let's pull in the rest area, I have to go, the guy said, no, that's ok, I'm good now, thanks for the conversation, she pulled off, he kept going. She was in the rest area for about a 1/2 hour, drove for about another hour, everything coming to a halt. She get's on the radio, "What's going on eastbound?" "Truck hit a bridge, gonna be a while, driver killed". Finally, when she got up to the wreck, guess who it was,,,,, the guy she was running with. -
