Hi all, looking to go back into OTR. Drove 8 months OTR in 2013. Class A, Hazmat, Dbls/Tripl.
So I still have less than one year, and its been about 18 months since I last drove.
I am assuming I will be having to get on at a company that does some kind of "refresher" course. Question would be what are good companies to contact. Schneider tanker, Crete, Knight would be some on my list. About to start the online application/call the recruiter process.
    Thanks

I was out for 18 months as well. I found a small company and signed on with no problem, no refresher. They drug tested me and through me the keys. Not even a drive test. Why are you only looking at the megas?

Guess I was thinking they were the best chance seeing I had been out 18 months AND only had 8 months total driving experience. I'm located in North Carolina.

Go knock on the door at Guy M. Turner Heavy haul, look them up on the net, they have small trucks too be a good way to get back driving with a company that does a lot of different stuff, they are in NC

Was searching under refresher here, found where Chinatown had posted this a couple of days ago: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-from-new-drivers/279670-any-suggestions.html

Freymiller has a program to get drivers with a gap in driving back on the road. This company would be my first choice in similar situation.

If Freymiller doesn't work, then try Earl Henderson Trucking Co. They pull reefers coast to coast and border to border. They also provide hotel room and 3 meals a day while at school. You have the CDL-A so you're way ahead of the game in training.

    Chinatown and VdotFoxx Thank this.

Epes is out of NC, I have heard good about them as well. I went otr with H.O Wolding out of WI for a short venture out of school. Great company that delivers what that promise. Take home tractor and nice newer tractors. I just didn't like otr and found a local job. Good luck!
