Georgia Driver's Academy, Columbus, GA or South Ga Tech in Americus, GA?

I know someone that worked there a few years ago and back then he hauled lot of produce, potatoes, etc from the Western states back to the Southeast. That's been probably 8 yrs. ago. He doesn't work there now.

 

so the 8 week school would be best???? get real Chinatown. the tech schools in ga offer a very good program. and also its a better price point, but overall the tech school would be more thorough. think back to the military would a 8 week basic training and ait turn out a better soldier or an 18 week training period. just saying

 

Take the 18 week course. Better training.

And whitehead does not pay that well.

Im starting GDA soon. Instructor / teacher ratio 4:1. Very good passing ratio and great instructors. Its also about $1800.00 cheaper than competitor schools, not factoring in hotel rooms. I rather get done it 3 weeks rather than drag it out 4 months. I can't afford / willing to be in school that long... College was long enough. If its like any training I've had before you learn the real ropes out on the job with your trainer.

 

The school is just to teach you the basics and get you out the door with a cdl. Take the shorter course you would be chewing on a gun barrel in the longer one.

Going to a college will allow you to get on with a better paying company. Many of the recruiters that came by my school noted that they do not hire from those short 3-week schools. GDA will give you the whole pro-military speech, then charge you $4K or more. I know OP has the GI Bill, but for others reading this thread, college tuition is cheaper (mine was $1700).

 

The tech schools in my area are 16 weeks in length. No where have I seen a company prefer tech schools over dedicated cdl schools. Most require cdl school certificates + experience, some only cdl schools. It seems many companies are desperate for a good, clean driver with solid endorsements. I'm going the 3 week route and don't think I will have a problem landing a good job. Shoot, after a year it doesn't matter if you went to GDA cdl school or Harvard's cdl school. All the same in my opinion.
