Trailer cross member question

    Of your most recent photos there is no doubt the first one is of a aluminum crossmember that was poorly repaired.

    The second one you cannot really see the metal beyond the dirt and/or insulation but the thick cross section for a crossmember is a clue.

    For this one, the decision between dispatch and the shipper was "moving the load" to another trailer... Hehehee

    Holy Moly! That reminds me of this one that I moved too.... to another trailer too. Lol

    I understand how the first cross member got damaged. But behind that 1 there were two good crossmembers and then there was the other two that I don't understand how that happened?

    I know what I'd do if they insisted this was legal. Go to the first scale and request a level 1. Every dot officer I know LOVES when drivers bring in faulty equipment that the company insists is fine and forces the driver to run it.

    I seriously thought about doing that with a couple of trailers that they insisted were OK and my truck which they insist is repaired but I do not believe so. But I was told if I did that it would reflect back on me and I would lose my excellent standing so far.

    I really want to run local and I don't want anything to stand in my way of getting out of this truck and this company. I love the job don't get me wrong and I would continue to run over the road if there was a company that met my high standards. I do not like being told to run illegal because the load is more important than safety.

    Third pic sure looks like a bad "drop" on a train fifth wheel.

    But one and two? I don't see any scrapes on the rail to give evidence to what happened. Most likely due to many miles put on the trailer after the damage.

    May I suggest you educate yourself on whistleblower protection laws and all the lawsuits that have come about from driver coercion and punitive actions violating companies have taken against said whistleblowers. That way, the next time someone tells you"it will reflect on you" you have some ammo to fire back with.

    I think when I have some more time I may just do that.

    If I knew whether this truck would be out of service for the fluid leaks that continue to go on for 3+ months now and it would not show up on my record in such a way that would prevent me from getting a local job I would in a heartbeat take this truck in.

    I think it's time I make another thread and post pictures of the stuff that I'm concerned about. Maybe you guys could tell me whether that is supposed to be that way and I'm just losing my mind or if I'm right and its not supposed to be that way.

    ...the question isn't if you can weld better or talk #### about the obvious ####ty weld job or the grade of aluminum the crossmember is made of its....is it legal to haul...yes or no...the only reply should be yes it is I had a experience with a trailer similar and had a DOT inspection and passed then give the Information if and the official gave you...OR...No it's not legal to haul and give proof or reasons for that.....
