Hey everyone, I am a new driver, obtained my cdl on Tuesday, I did not attend a school, I actually spent 2 months training over the road with an O/O in order to obtain my cdl. I started with keim ts yesterday out of Sabetha,Ks and so far they're an amazing company. Very friendly staff and people, put you up in a motel, and feed you one meal a day during orientation. The hotel they put you in doesn't seem very nice on the outside but the interior is extremely nice. Very clean and well kept. Keim is a flatbed over the road company with around 200 trucks and double that amount of trailers. They use Kenworth t660 studio sleep trucks and they're top of the line. Their oldest trucks are 2013 and they only have 5 of those left. All of their equipment is clean and well maintained. Since starting I have been given the opportunity to drive two of their brand new 2016 660's. That's pretty awesome for someone who just obtained their cdl. They own their own truck wash and have laundry services available. They use t cards for fuel and have fuel available at their terminals. They do still run on paper log books which are provided too you. All of their trucks utilize Cummins engines and Eaton fuller 13 speed transmissions, and are governed at 65 on the pedal and 68 with the cruise set. So far I would definitely recommend that anyone should take a look at this company if interested in pursuing a career in flatbed trucking!:biggrin_255:

Pay by experience. I have no experience so I get .40 cpm or 25% of gross whichever I choose.

All the drivers I have met say they spend most of their 34 hour restarts at home. They get great home time here.

At some point you may be hauling wire into the Cretex pipe plant in Bonner Springs, KS. I used to haul pipe out of there before I retired, actually still do on a part time basis. I get to say if I am available or not, what a deal. All the dust will make your clean truck look like crap, and pizz you off, been down that road.

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of shippers and receivers make your truck dirty, guess that's the downfall of flatbed, but it sure beats spending hours in a loading dock somewhere.

Hope that Keim is still treating you well. I'm actually looking at possibly switching over to them here in the next couple of weeks. I run for a small company out of Knoxville, TN and we had a driver switch to Keim for a while, he ended up coming back to our company after a little while. But I am hoping that Keim will have a little better future for me.

What's your office number so drivers can talk to you directly instead of pretending to be a driver?
