The wife and I are going up to Flag tomorrow and I will try to watch the back of those SNI trailers. They may not be taking on new drivers any where.

First of all, I want to say I am not picking on the particular poster above....... there are comments all over this site about SNI not hiring as many drivers as they have in the past..... I am actually wanting to address all of the SNI posters who feel they know what is going on.......
I have no idea what SNI is actually doing (it would be great if one of their people would post here...hint, hint, hint)...... however, has anyone else considered that there is, at least a chance, that Schneider might actually be trying to do things "right"?
I'll just explain what I mean?
Many posts on this site talk about Schneider "slowing down" on their recruitment/hiring...... it is implied (or flat out claimed/stated) that this means that business in general is slowing down for the company....... I for one am not sure this is the case.......
I have talked to SNI in Fontana and if you are what they are looking for.... they have a place for you.........
Let me propose this.......... maybe hiring fewer new drivers and trainees might just be Schneider's way of trying to "raise the bar" or "better" their company?
By hiring more experienced (or qualified) drivers they have a chance to see the drivers performance record and can cultivate a higher quality driver pool...........
In addition, what I also think just may be happening is that BECAUSE Schneider may be "raising the bar" they may be experiencing a decline in driver turnover.........
If they are keeping drivers longer, and the drivers are doing a good job........ then logic follows that they would need to hire and train less new drivers...........
It is an interesting observation (at least to me) that posters on this site are very critical of the "bottom feeder" companies that hire anyone and everyone because of their high turn-over rate.......... however, when a carrier like SNI stops hiring everything that has a pulse...... people start thinking that the sky is falling..........
For the record...... I think Schneider is doing just fine...... but what do I know? I'm not even high enough to be considered a "newbie puke" yet....Last edited: Jun 6, 2008
AfterShock Thanks this. -
And the price of fuel is going through the roof. My brother drove Jevic over on the east coast and they shut down. Spoke with him today and he said companies on the east coast are not hiring due to cost of operations. Just hope my job is still on!!!!
The country can't keep going like this. Hopefully things will change soon. At her school this weekend they are having a job fair. I'll let you know how that goes. Suppose to have free "all meat uhhhh" hot dogs and wal-mart soda. -
get a P.O. box in there hiring area and that should fix it all. sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get a job. good luck

I checked out so cal on other sites and spoke with a few of their drivers. What I found out years ago, and from what I see as true today, is that a lot of companies have good and bad things about them. I've read about what some people say about them, being good and bad. For my wife and myself, it gives us a chance to get back into it together as a team, allowing me to train her. Not some stranger!!! It also allows us to take our dog which is a german sheperd. The companies out there that do allow dogs usually have a weight limit. They're giving us a chance to do this together so we're hoping it all works out.
As I learned in the Army years ago. #### rolls down hill, and the bottom man catches it. What you decide to do with that #### is up to you. As for myself, I'm going to haul that #### all over the country and get the experience we need to get. Hopefully it all works out. I will keep everyone posted and see how it goes. -
