I make that and then some running night LTL linehaul (9hrs) and am home every day with weekends off and I do not have any headaches, park the truck when I am done and go home

Most O/O could make more money if they wanted to, but once you have true freedom you tend to not work as hard.

Night linehaul sucks, and I'd have a hard time having someone tell me what I'm doing, how to do it and when to do it.

LOL! I had to pass every CDL exam just as any other "truck" driver.. I even have all the endorsements.. Oh.. Fyi.. I also drive a "real truck" (IH 9200i) not just a "pickup car". I love being profiled by "truckers" when I pull into petro with my 40' gooser.. What you think the FMCSR's don't apply to us too?

    A66Impala,

Thank you for this post. It's inspiring for me (and others as well, I am sure) but I've been reading so many negative post regarding this business, I'm re-thinking my thoughts about getting (back) in. I drove during the 80s and 90s and left to a new career as a merchant mariner. I now own a Dodge 3500 and would like to try hot shot work.

You wouldn't consider seasonal RV Transport?
