It's possible, if you work weekends. But that's another benefit of LTL--my weekends are my own. If I work on a weekend, it's strictly voluntary; I'm not made to do it, as the OP was inquiring about.
Is it true about Saia and OD?

Talked to an od driver for hours a few weeks ago when we both got stuck at a menards. He said he works 12 hours a day minimum and typically will use almost his full 14. 5 days a week but that is still a long week.

12+ hours is pretty standard for me. I average 500-600 mi. a nightt an usually stop at at least two service centers. Meet relays are nice because it gets me back earlier, but those have been scarce lately.
Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
OD is electronic and they are sticklers about it. If you don't get your reset in every weekend the TM wont be happy with you.
DayliteDean and Dan.S Thank this. -
You guys are working very hard. Is the money that much better? I want to earn more too but it has to be worth the extra hours plus risk and stress of city driving.
I got an easier job it seems (about 40-50hrs & 2000 miles, on 11/off 3) at $65/yr - should I be satisfied or would YRC, Saia, Estes, OD be a significant step up? -
