Out of curiosity, without posting exactly who your work for, if we can get an idea about each specific category of driver/type of driver and their approximate salary ranges.
Im a AZ driver hauling reefer trailers, in South Ontario, local work in the 160 km radius and making about $52,000 / year, *before taxes*.

But how many hours a week to get that $52,000? Are you getting overtime?
-
The type of trucking a person does can almost always give you a good answer as to the hours expected.
The 9-5 trucker looks to be more rare than the local regional or long haul type of driver. -
Rough estimates are worth ZERO. When your check is half of what you thought it would be that estimate is worthless. $$ are an exact science. When companies advertise "up to $70,000 " a year almost no one can reach that level. Have you heard the expression GIGO? Garbage in, garbage out. The answers you get will not help. For each sector there are those who pay well and others that pay little. Good answers come from good questions

Waste Hauler - Governmenttrucker82 Thanks this. -
GOV'T Trucker: That is one great job! You are lucky!

Yes I am lucky I will say that... I make a hourly rate, great benefits and great pension... I am also lucky with this job because it's actually what I have always wanted to do (the exact field but still HEO).. I always wanted to drive a truck and be an equipment operator, which only a daily basis I operating both a truck and a front end loader loading myself.. Now I did want to be in the construction industry and ended up in the waste management industry... Although I might be going to the construction side of things in the water department if things pan out..
There are good paying jobs out there, even ones that pay more (hourly) then what I get... Just need to know where to look and have the experience behind you (sometimes you don't even need that, we have newbie drivers in my department)...
