I dig Cabin Overs. But totally road worthy COE are selling in the Mid $20k. You're basically buying a $7500 Truck and a $7500 trailer. I personally have never seen a good operational truck for $7500 and I've owned a few $7500 trailers and unless you're willing and able to put another $5000 minimum in to the trailer.

If you're planning on putting a truck on the road right away then it's silly.

If you're buying it to work on then yeah it's cool.

I just think you can find more bang for your buck.

I like the cab overs as far as the cool factor. If you were gonna run around doing local with it probably wouldn't matter much. You would be crazy to try and do otr with it.

That's a more what I need is feed back to why not get it. It's a solid truck and he's using it for belly dump work, runs good. I have pics of the trl I'll try to post real fast. 5k for truck 10k for trl, guess I could put a 20k down payment on a 00 kw?

Jeez that brings back memories! First truck I drove was a 79 Pete cabover. 400 Cummins, 13 speed, 4:11 rears, it would run! Now a question, does it have power steering? I started with "armstrong power steering" and didn't mind it till I got in a power steering truck for a couple of days! Does it have front brakes? Not uncommon back then to disable or remove them! Wasnt illegal either! Mechanically inclined are ya! You're gonna enjoy jacking up that cab when you have to twist wrenches on her! If it goes up! Does it have air ride susp? Spring ride very common back then! That air ride Pete rode like crap!

Not power steering, has front breaks, I think it's air ride, I know it won't be the best ride do run otr, I just think they are cool looking trucks. It's not my number 1 option but it's cheap and runs, everything else I have found is in worse condition, body and motor. At least that's in my price range

I do think running otr is gonna be a problem. What are ya gonna tell the customer when you're broke down on the side of the road. Are you prepared to pay a tow truck? Put money down for the 2000 KW in my opinion. Don't go for anything older then 2002, or is it 2003. (pre emissions) unless you gotta run cali.

Drivers ran the roads for years in cabovers, the first four trucks I drove were cabovers. If you've never ran one, you'll learn quick its not built for comfort.
With any truck you buy,you need to be as sure as possible that it's going to last a couple years longer, than you plan to run it.
With any truck you WILL have down time. Whether it's breakdowns or slow freight.
One thing I was told years ago was, if you don't have enough money to rebuild the motor on the first trip, your not ready to be a O/O.
Have you read double yellow's thread yet?
