I'm with Ashley furniture now. I'm on the truckload point to point side I'm too old for that humping furniture LTL side......but those guys make the REAL money here at 70-90k. Outstanding gig. They opened a DC in advance last year. They don't hire students it's a gig you work up to and earn.

Which is a 2nd point as well. Have a plan. Know where you want to be in a couple of years and work towards it. Get 2+ solid years at one company and doors open. There's some good money to be made out here if you keep your nose clean, don't job hop, and have a plan.

Epes is a decent gig out of Greensboro. They have many 10-20+ year drivers there.

A year is good but 2 is much better. 2 years + at the same place will have you very well positioned to move to the front of the line of the many who only did their year and then started looking when applying at a better company. That's why choosing your training company well is so very important when the payoff is almost always with the next company a couple years down the line.

    Two I would strongly consider:

    CTL Transportation
    Schneider Bulk(tankers)

Both companies will sponsor you in CDL school. Tanker drivers can make over $60K right out of CDL school.

One Schneider Bulk driver posted he made $80K his first 12 months as a solo driver; that's after all training was complete, then 12 months on his own.

Just talked to both recruiters from Millis and Swift. Gonna think over both and make my decision in the next few days . Millis school in Eden starts the 29th and Swifts in Asheville July 6th. Swift recruiter said they just recently opened the Asheville school .

Both companies have driver facing cameras; just want you to be aware of that.

I was told by my Bulk recruiter I would make around 42k out of the Savannah GA terminal at minimal miles, so 50-55 should be doable if you get max miles per week and unload fees. Just not worth it to me b/c I have a 3.5 hour drive to the terminal. Im going to TMC, make some good money and ride the truck home every week if I want. I do want to get into tankers for sure, but logistically its not what I want to do right now.

I got my CDL last June. Got hired at Crete in July. 8 weeks with trainer at 500.00 per week. Then went solo OTR. First 4 months solo was at. 34 cpm. The exact day I was there for 6 months my cpm went up to. 45 cpm. Free rider policy and a pet policy. This is a good company to start with.
