Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Boy, my DM gets sick, the load planner for Florida is on vacation, add to that I need to pick up my trainee on the west coast of Florida which boxes me in a corner, and everything turns into the perfect storm. My hometime is now 5 days and counting. I could sit here and biotch all day, but what for? I'm going into the pool for a swim.

 

Let's get caught up. I got dispatched Wednesday morning. I got dispatched to pick up Jason in Punta Gorda, then had to dead head up to Conyers Georgia for a drop and hook going back to Richmond. My dispatch said it was a drop and hook. It was. Except the gate code I was given to open the gate wasn't the right code. At 2am I had enough and went to bed. I've been a firm believer that if you don't want to over sleep and need a wake up call, park in a driveway and block the gate. It worked, at 5:30 the knock came and the gate was open. We left at 6am.

Got to Richmond at 4pm yesterday, my truck had to go to KW, got it back about 5pm today. Now it's due for a service. We have a load that's due in Mira Loma Monday at 8am. Right now I have a pounding headache. As soon as I get my truck back its sleepy sleepy, then leave about 4am.

 

Got our Mira Loma off on Monday. Then had to run over to our drop yard and grab a loaded trailer that delivered that night in Redwood City. Got that off at midnight then had to deadhead to Sylmar for a drop and hook going back to Richmond. We made it as far as Nashville then got swapped out last night headed back to LA with two stops for Sunday. I started a reset yesterday and will be done at 4:30 today. Jason will start his reset at 4:30 and be done early Sunday morning. I'll have just enough hours solo to finish this load while he's resetting. Right now we are sitting in beautiful West Memphis getting ready to ride.

There's some things in life that never changes, West Memphis is one of those places.

 

You should've heard me this morning when we were leaving. That garbage with that group of undesirable trash has been the same the last 35 years I know of.

 

Where am I? Where do I start, what day is it? Sitting in Colton Ca waiting for my produce load. Since the last time I posted we've done another turn to California and back. This load delivers Tuesday in Henderson Nc. I have home time starting next Friday. I'll drop Jason off then go home until the 8th and enjoy my time off with my wife, and celebrate her birthday. Typical wife though, don't mention my age, but make sure you're home to celebrate it or I'll make your life miserable!

Vacation coming up in August, 10 days floating around the Carribean on one of those large vessels.
