So your meaning to tell me that you don't like to have fun at your job? I've never worked a job I didn't have fun doing, I want to be happy and enjoy my job so I'm not like most that wake up and say #### I have to work today that sucks, no I like to be excited about going to work. Granted if the situation requires me to work to keep a roof over my families house that understandable but we live in America and we're blessed with choices so if I have the choice, which I usually do I will take a job I enjoy over a job I dislike any day of the week. Now if I get caught up at a bad job then I will do what I can to make the best of the situation and look for something I will enjoy. In my eyes a big part of life is what you make of it. I was once told, "It's not what you've got that counts but what you make with what you've got that really matters". If I make the best out of every situation I will be happier in life, and that's how I prefer living. Although some may choose otherwise, but always remember. Us Americans have it much better than most others even though we've got a horrible government among plenty of other things. Our "poor" have cable T.V and places to eat every night where most other countries the poor only have the clothes on their skin.

This. Better the glass half full than half empty. I am a subscriber to Zacks outlook on life. I love my trucking life!

I don't love driving a truck, but I don't dread it. I do it because it pays well. I wouldn't do it otherwise.

Going to an automatic trucking company as a noob is not a smart idea, that will severely limit your options for better opportunity down the road.
Learn how to drive a stick while you can.
There's a reason why way more starter low paying companies have automatic trucks vs higher paying experienced jobs and it's not for your "comfort" or fuel economy.
You're not truly an experienced truck driver unless you have experience with stick.
Having cheap drivers is the name of the game for most all starter companies.

    Hi freightwipper,

    How are you?

What you are saying really does make a lot of sense.
Sadly and unfortunately, there may be situations that compels the new driver to take a job with a trucking company that only has automatic transmissions. The companies with manual transmissions may have been all full at the time the new driver applied for those positions.

God bless you and your family! God bless the U.S.A.!

Once you can drive stick you can always drive stick doesn't matter.

I agree. I drive for transam as company driver. They have quit giving xtra pay and layover pay is difficult to get. The load planners put you on swaps that make you loose money.

I doubt your coach got home weekly unless he lived along our freight lanes and took break time at home. At Trans am you put in hometime 8 days in advance. Its normal to have to put in 15 or more days early to get days you want.

I did not say official home time, but he did get home a lot. He lived in Olathe and had to pick up new students from Olathe.
