Support Thread for the TND 500, TND 700 or future Rand McNally products. (part two)

I have the 530. Yesterday I ran 96 out of Hutchinson KS towards Wichita. It kept telling me to turn around, then eventually said a route couldn't be found, and then gave me a low clearance warning.

I loaded in southeast KS this morning and punched in my destination. I was surprised to see it routed me west on 96 out of Wichita after not routing me east on it yesterday.

Having some issues with my 730 after updating to version 3450. The unit will want me to turn around, go back to where I started and then draws a straight line to my destination.

Here is an example- Start in Mendota, Illinois and end in Eau Claire, Wi. Distance of about 300 miles.... Has me turning around in Rockford (making a u-turn on US 20) and going back to Mendota and then has a straight line for a route to Eau Claire with a distance of 57 miles.

Also- battery doesn't seem to hold a charge very well, the screen doesn't respond well to touch (even after aligning) at times, speaker is distorted and it will lock up during a recalculation.

Given the age of the unit (bought mid February) and the problems I'm having, what are the chances this is a refurbished/used unit?

I have called RM tech support twice only to be put on hold and they won't respond to my emails.

Thats weird, I live in WI, and travel that area quite frequently. Not that exact starting location, but I deliver in eau claire at the menards quite frequently. But I personally never see that.

It does this about once or twice a day now. It's not limited to Wisconsin either as this happened yesterday in Indiana. A straight line popped up (as the crow flies) and it wasn't anywhere near my route.



Maybe RM added a new routing option that I wasn't aware of.....

 

I wanted to add how I got my Rand mcnally dock software to install when it wouldn't when I first tried. I spammed the button where it says click yes if your device is connected and no to cancel install. You do this as you power up the device while its connected to your computer. It sees it for a split second and its all it needs to do the install. After that it updates the device normally. I know its crazy but it worked for me
