Got the 730 and really liked it from the start. However it soon locked up with that infamous white screen of death. I've tried connecting it to different power sources, diagnostics and repair, and resetting it over and over. Is my last recourse really to have to send it in and wait for it to be fixed, isn't there something else that can be done to get it off that white screen?

Hey Mark, got an odd one for you. 720 was freezing up when trying to calculate a route. Did a diagnostic check and found over a 100 files needing repairs. Did the repairs, now it seems it's reverted back to an older version prior to the big update. Dock wants me to to the big update again, but the SD card is still in the device and should still have the update on it. No idea what's going on. Still freezing up too.

Update: Powering up the unit today and says invalid maps. Is it possible the SD went bad or the update got corrupted? If I reinstall the update could that fix the issue? Thanks.

    This is on a 730?

I have seen this before when you run a version on a newer set of maps the version is not made for.

Have you done a D/R on the unit?

If you have I might want to remote into your unit and check your files.

    Thanks,
    mark

How long did you let it charge? If the battery is low in the unit it will show the white screen.

If you have charged it then it might be a hardware issue.

Let me know if the light goes green when charging.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I have seen a few 720 for some reason shows the SD Card as corrupted. If the files are still on the SD Card, move them to your desktop, then format the SD Card as Fat 32, then move the files back onto the SD Card.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Not the prescribed method. If you are having issues with the Dock installing let me know.

    Thanks,
    Mark

About 2 months ago I installed 32gb SD card and did the map update on my 720. Very next trip out the thing worked beautiful for about 5 hours then the screen would become garbled and then shut down. Now if I try to use it it will run from 2 to 5 hours and shut down. It seems to be getting pretty hot. Probably just a coincidence that this started happening right after map update.

Just wondering if it's worth sending in for repair or if it would cost more than it's worth.

Seems this has fixed the problem. When I moved the files back on to the card after formatting I was getting a system file missing error. Re-did the diagnostics and it took care of it. Thanks Mark..

Haven't been to the forum in a while and have spent the last couple of hours or so catching up on previous posts. I didn't see mention of this in any of them, though it could have been in earlier posts that I read before the issue arose. TND-720 wants Hubby to go from I-75 exit 216 in Georgia to 200 King Mill Rd, McDonough, via left onto GA-155, right onto US-23, and right onto the far end of King Mill Rd, instead of simply turning left onto GA-155 and right onto the near end of King Mill Rd. Is there a truck restriction here that we don't know about? It appears to be an industrial park.
