Can't see them on our board? Well that's what I mean there's no Canada loads.
    I never saw any.
What I was guessing is it was company trucks that were seen.

I live in Richmond, VA. I here some of y'all mention running short. Is it possible to run short in VA only & earn $650-$700/day?

We get fuel discounts but nope we pay fuel taxes.
Does Mercer pay most all tolls though?

I get that you have to figure in fuel taxes into pump price. Western PA has fuel of freaking $3.50 a gallon though.

There's some short loads that stay within VA but not many.
I never tried VA only though so I don't know but I would guess it would be difficult because there's not many short VA only loads.
You can run short loads in a lot of regions.. VA only isn't one that comes to mind.

    Moneyleg Thanks this.

I don't know what all Mercer pays. I figure you have some things better, and they have some things better. I suppose it all comes out to about even in the end. I like how you are able to commit to several loads ahead immediately.

I always ended up paying quarterly fuel taxes. If I really paid attention and tried to buy enough in each state I could cut down my amount owed though.

    Every place is different...
All I know for sure is that % and picking your own freight is the way to go. Mercer and Landstar I think you deal with calling for loads and dealing with brokers though vs point and click loads here.
    Whatever floats your boat.

Are the places y'all pickup/deliver loads tight and require a lot of super trucker backing or are they wide open spaces?

It's dependent on the region as far as tightness.

Northeast is tighter than the west

yup I agree with this. and Jersey really sucks!
However when you do drop and hooks you usually have more room than docks and live load/unload in the Northeast.
