Driving to Jonesboro, AR last night ruined my clean windshield. It took me 10 minutes to clean the windshield. I could hardly see out of it by the time I got to the receiver. Knight wanted me to route through Memphis but I got off in Jackson and took 412 over; much better route and saves a few miles too.

Loading out of the same place to gaffney, SC where I came from, drop and hook both ways. Easy miles.

The bonuses paid out and in addition to my regular check my take home was 2430.00. My gross so far this year is 29,000.00. If this keeps up I will definitely gross over 60k this year.

That load cancelled and got one to TX instead. I get to see an old friend this morning then get back on the road. Going right by home town of Edgewood, TX. I don't get down that way very often.

This week was slow with only 1900 miles. I had two loads back to back with a lot of detention. This lat one I got a 34 in at the customer. The other was almost 22 hours of off duty time. My office threw me some extra money to make up for the poor miles and all the sitting so it won't hurt my pay as much.

Ya, been told TX is not such a good place to go right now. Was talking to my dispatcher and he said he was turning down anything going to TX because coming out down right sucks, at least if your trying to go west.

Also on a side note, Trainee is doing awesome. He is a EX Cowboy and used to drive cattle everywhere. He has good stamina he drives anywhere from 8 to 11 hours a day with no issues. He can handle a truck and he backs awesome. Not bad for a guy that just came out of CDL school. Most of all he has common sense.

Also a kick in the pants to chat with. I have quite enjoyed having him on my truck.

TX was always hard to get out of the 5 yrs I worked for Knight back when (and short on truck stops as well).

It is the home of J.B. Hunt and Stevens Transport!

Btw, they cant teach 'common sense' in academia----one can learn it only in the school of hard knocks along with life-long experiences....

Tex for the last few years has been decent. We would run loads like crazy out of Twin Falls, ID. Down to Fort Worth, TX. MBM then turn around and run produce to Oregon, Wash, CO. (Avocados) of all things. Things kind of dried up for a while when they closed down the port down there due to that accident.

Normally when I get down there I end up doing some shuttles that are more trouble than they're worth before I get a load out of there. About the only time I go there is to get services done.

    Fajo Thanks this.

My DM called and said he is pretty sure I will be getting another student when I get on the road after time off. This guy will have zero experience with a truck. He will be a squire and will have had only a few days learning some backing under his belt.
